The adidas Archive. The Footwear Collection, is the new book published by Taschen that contains all the adidas sneakers models that have made the history of the brand from its origins to today.
Hundreds of innovative designs, between memorable moments and important collaborations, the volume presents the first image story of the adidas shoe through more than 357 models, including never seen prototypes and unique original models.
Photographers Christian Habermeier and Sebastian Jäger offer an extremely detailed visual documentation of the adidas historical archive, one of the largest, if not the largest, among the archives of sporting goods manufacturers around the world.
The archive was born almost by chance, when one of the brand’s founding brothers, Adolf Dassler – known to all as Adi – asked the athletes to return the shoes used to study and improve its products, collecting and cataloging them in the attic of the house.
The images of the book The adidas Archive have been taken in very high resolution and without any post-production intervention, each shoe brings to light the personal history of the person who wore it.
In addition to the historical models in the field of sport, on the new Taschen volume it is possible to admire customized models made for stars like Madonna and deepen collaborations in the world of fashion with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Raf Simons, Stella McCartney and Yohji Yamamoto, as well as the cutting edge techniques and materials created by the brand, such as the use of recycled plastic in the new adidas Ultraboost.
