Chrissy Teigen shared some truly heartbreaking news on her Instagram last night: After suffering complications, she lost her third baby. Teigen briefed fans throughout the week about his health and that of his baby after he was hospitalized for excessive bleeding last weekend; her husband John Legend was in the hospital with her.
She wrote last night:
We’re shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite the bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.
We never decide on the names of our babies until the last possible moment after birth, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started calling this little guy in my stomach Jack. So he will always be Jack for us. Jack has worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be forever.
To our Jack – I am so sorry that the first few moments of your life were accompanied by so many complications, that we could not give you the house you needed to survive. We will always love you.
Thank you to everyone who sends us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all your love and really appreciate you.
We are so thankful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we have been able to experience. But every day cannot be full of sun. In these darkest days, we will cry, we will cry. But we’ll hug and love each other harder and we’ll get through.
Teigen previously revealed that she is in the middle of her third pregnancy and her placenta is very weak despite her baby being very strong. She said then:
In the simplest terms we can say that my placenta is really very weak. So I feel really good. The baby is so healthy, getting stronger than [my other children] Luna or Miles. He’s moving a lot, he’s moving so much sooner than they ever have. He’s like a roly-poly and we have a million awesome photos of him. He is so different than them. So he’s so strong, and I’m so excited for him because he’s so wonderful and just like the strongest little dude. So I can’t wait for it. But basically he’s the strongest, coolest dude in the crappy house. So his house is falling apart. It didn’t have a good foundation at first though… but yes, he didn’t have the greatest luck at the very beginning.
All we’re doing now is trying to make sure he’s got plenty of fluid around him and that I’m obviously getting as much rest as possible. It’s just difficult because there isn’t much you can do. I’m in this weird middle period where it’s really dangerous to try anything. Basically, if I can get through the next few weeks, if little boy can get through the next few weeks, then you know, we can go from there and be able to go through the danger zone or whatever. But we have to go through this first. So yeah, it’s scary, but it’s scary in a sense that there is nothing to do … trust me, we are there. We are trying everything we can.
