The Philharmonic of the Scala launches the invitation for a collective sound flashmob, scheduled Sunday 12 April at 12.30, as a sign of proximity to all doctors, health workers, civil protection and law enforcement agencies, the volunteers and all the associations and people who are dedicating their commitment to support those suffering from Covid-19, in Italy and around the world. The message is joined by the UniCredit Main Partner, UniCredit Foundation and the sponsors of the orchestra.
“Music is the universal language”, say the musicians, “through it we want to be close to people in a time so difficult for all humanity, with the execution of the famous Canon in D major by Johann Pachelbel. We will do it from our windows next Sunday at 12.30 and we invite everyone, musicians and otherwise, to join us in this open-air concert, our wish on Easter day. We chose the Canon of Pachelbel for its universality and its marvelous architecture: a simple musical cell that repeats itself in increasingly complex variations. A never boring repetitiveness that makes it one of the best known and loved songs, and one of the most significant examples of contamination between musical genres, for the many arrangements that are still made today from jazz to rock. For this reason everyone can play it. The Canon of Pachelbel, in its infinite repetition simple and complicated, today more than ever it represents the cyclical sense of our world, and the spirit that animates everyone in starting again. Together we will do it ».
The video, remotely recorded by the musicians, will be published on Saturday 11 April on the social profiles of the Filarmonica della Scala. The orchestra also makes the score available, for all those who want to join the flashmob. For those who are unable to play an instrument it will be possible download the audio file to play from your balconies. So everyone can participate in the initiative, with their own instrument or by making the registration sound from their homes.
“A way to express solidarity and closeness to all those who are busy in these hours to defeat an invisible enemy” communicate the orchestrals “and to remember all those who have lost their lives for this”.
#Italiasuona is the hashtag that the Philharmonic launched with the initiative: the best videos will be republished on the social profiles of the orchestra.
