Earlier this month, as has happened with many other events in the world and fashion competitions, the CFDA was forced to cancel the ceremony announcing the winners of theElaine Gold Launch Pad 2019 2020. The annual competition arises from the partnership between CFDA is The Accessories Council, created to support emerging designers in business for no more than three years. The winning designers win a structured mentorship program like one virtual residence lasting six months, in addition to prizes based on the results obtained. Clothing, accessories and jewelry stylists are encouraged to participate. Among the participants of the past stand out Emily Adams Bode by Bode (who later won the CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund), and Maria Kazakova by Jahnkoy.
In recent years, interest in emerging designers and fashion competitions has grown, but pressure has also increased on young brands that are struggling to keep up. Supporting these designers at the beginning of their career, both financially and in the form of mentorship, is crucial and fundamental for the durability of a brand.
