Haunting of Season 3 News, Release Date, Cast

This weekend, consider your haunted house. Netflix just dropped The Haunting of Bly Manor, the ghost story that follows The Haunting of Hill House in Mike Flanagan’s ongoing spooky tales franchise. The series resumes that of Henry James The turn of the screw and leads us into the world of Dani Clayton (Victoria Pedretti), a housekeeper tasked with looking after the Wingraves – two orphan children with well-kept secrets.

After consuming all nine episodes (with or without the lights on), you might be wondering about the status of a third season. Coming up, all we know about another episode of the Haunting … anthology series and which actors might return.

A third installment has not been confirmed.

While the first two seasons of The fear of … have proven to be extremely popular, Season 3 has not been announced. However, that doesn’t mean that another payout isn’t in the cards. Fans had to wait four months after the premiere of The Haunting of Hill House for season 2 to be confirmed in February 2019. When the series was renewed, Variety reported that Netflix has signed a multi-year agreement with show creator Mike Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy. This means the streamer is certainly open to more seasons – or other projects of the duo behind the series.

Season 3 would likely tie into the two Hill house and Manor of Bly.

While each season of the series unboxes a different horror location, there are chains of connectivity between them. Mainly, there are several returning cast members who would likely be involved in a third season: Pedretti, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Carla Gugino, and Kate Siegel (Flanagan’s actual partner). While none of the OG cast members have signed on for Season 3, Thomas told OprahMag.com that “the stories are limitless” in the Haunted universe.

“There are absolutely little nods, but they’re very subtle,” Flanagan told ELLE.com earlier this year. “Lots of dialogue – you’ll hear familiar phrases, but it was really important to the actors, and to Victoria in particular, that she wanted to be as unfamiliar as possible. So there are some cool little moments where this season and the final season come together, but it’s a lot more in the ideas than in the narrative or the relationships of specific characters.

Macy confirmed to Vanity Fair that future seasons would continue to adapt horror novels, calling the first two opus a “literary remix”.

The new season would likely premiere in October.

Without a green light, it’s impossible to know when a third entry in the series would premiere. However, both The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor debuted in October, albeit two years apart. That means The haunting of (fill in the blank) could be released in October 2022.

Whether it’s COVID-19 filming restrictions or production on Flanagan’s other Netflix horror series Midnight Mass would delay that date remains to be seen. Until then, there are two seasons of scares to watch out for right now.
