As someone who readily admits to prioritizing skincare over a lot (okay, okay, more) in my life right now, it’s no surprise that I’m constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest formulations. And, like other skincare enthusiasts, I’m currently obsessed with serums.
Face serums, in all of their endless niche iterations, are their own special breed of products. There is a star serum and ingredient for every skincare concern under the sun. But what if you just wanna a serum that covers all your bases? It should be light enough to layering under moisturizer, yet powerful enough to plump and firm to promote a more youthful appearance. Well I am delighted to report that I have found such a rarefied gem in the ultra-luxurious, recently redesigned La Prairie Skin Caviar Liquid Lift.
If there’s one skincare brand that’s synonymous with scientifically advanced, results-driven formulations, it’s La Prairie – and their latest product offering is no exception. Read on for everything you need to know about this newly revamped serum. Spoiler alert: there is a lot more caviar.
No one has successfully defied gravity yet, so let’s look at some serums that help us keep our skin lifted and firm. Skin Caviar Liquid Lift does just that (and more) with its exclusive combination of two advanced caviar ingredients. This is the first time that the two have been merged into a single formula.
A brief recap of La Prairie’s commitment to harvesting what is arguably the purest, most nutrient-rich caviar on the planet: La Prairie scientists source the sturgeon eggs that swim in ponds of fresh water filtered by the mountains of the Swiss Alps. Two highly concentrated extracts – caviar oils and caviar proteins – are what makes this bottle, but not alone. These extracts are combined with other skin stimulating biomolecules that mimic caviar in its natural state, including lipids, peptides, amino acids, and minerals. This results in a blend of the two exclusive blends of La Prairie – Caviar Premier and Caviar Absolute – in a silky and light serum.
The formula becomes fully activated before your eyes (which I personally find very satisfying). With the push of a sleek silver button, the two separate chambers – one housing the brand’s signature golden caviar pearls, the other a milky-textured serum – blend together. And thanks to the very thoughtful packaging, you can watch the beads emulsify into the serum through the clear window (which, IMO, more products really should be using because it also lets you know when you’re running out).
It smells heavenly
The smell of a product is superficial, but important nonetheless. Personally, I don’t like anything too fragrant or too strong, but I also want to smell Something. This formula checks both boxes. It’s lightly floral at first, then quickly penetrates the skin, leaving behind a barely present, clean scent.
Take a second to marvel at the golden caviar pearls. I don’t use the word iconic lightly, but it certainly applies here. These pearls are so closely linked to the DNA of the La Prairie brand that they actually inspired La Prairie’s latest commission with artist Cyril Lancelin for this year’s FIAC. Because the mega-exhibition has been canceled due to COVID-19, the artist’s sculptural work will be on display as a public piece at the Village Royal in Paris at the end of October. Tell me about the last time you heard of a sculpture dedicated to a skincare product. I’ll wait.
