Rosemary’s Takes Its Italian Specialties to Stuyvesant Town

The original Rosemary’s in the West Village, with its rooftop garden, now has a sprawling sibling in Stuyvesant Town. The exterior will also play an important role here, the latest addition to Carlos Suarez’s Casa Nela group. A 100-space sidewalk leads to a community garden that the group is helping to develop. Inside, the airy, tile-adorned restaurant seats 120 people in the dining room (at full capacity). A 50-seat wine bar and an intimate private dining room complete the picture. Executive Chef Ed Carew prepares an Italian menu with homemade pasta, vegetables, salads, roast chicken and sourdough pizzas. There will also be a cocktail party, the PDT PCV, named after the East Village PDT bar and Peter Cooper Village, adjacent to the restaurant. The price of the drink will help support Nazareth Housing, which serves New Yorkers in need, and other charities. Prepared and packaged foods, such as pasta, burrata, sauces and wines, will be retailed through Rosemary’s Pantry. Alex Gaudelet is a managing partner.

Drew Nieporent reopened his TriBeCa restaurant with a new executive chef, Doug Brixton, who was sous-chef at Café Boulud. Mr. Brixton’s seasonal menu includes cured salmon with gribiche sauce, chilled cucumber and avocado soup, nine spring herb cappelletti, Rohan duck with spicy pistachio crumbs, seared black sea bass in a saffron barigoule and veal tenderloin with bacon, sweetbreads, peas and morels. Desserts include a rhubarb pancake and a coconut curry parfait. None of the Austrian-style dishes of Markus Glocker, the former executive chef and partner, remain on the menu, although the wine list still includes a category of Teutonic whites.

This new tower of apartments on the riverside Domino Park, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, added Roberta’s and OddFellows Ice Cream as ground floor tenants. Other Half Brewing, which moved in a month ago, has opened its tap room where experimental beers can be tasted.

This restaurant opened in January, but only for take out and deliver. Now they will serve dinner in the open air. Salt and pepper grilled shrimp, steak with romesco sauce and spring onions, and a double cheeseburger are menu highlights. (Wednesday)
