Selena Gomez isn’t just making a new New York-based TV series; according to Variety, the singer is now in talks to make a horror film based on the city’s “elite fashion scene”, called Doll house. Variety describes the film as a psychological thriller and Black Swan-esque. Gomez will also produce the project.
Adam Fogelson, President of STXfilms Motion Picture Group, said Variety that “Selena’s involvement is an exciting direction for this project. She is extremely talented as a star and producer. Teaming up with Selena and Shawn and Dan’s expertise in the horror thriller genre will elevate “Dollhouse” and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the way this is developed.
In August, Gomez was announced as joining Hulu’s comedy series Only the murders in the building. According to Deadline, the series “follows three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Gomez) who share an obsession with real crime and suddenly find themselves caught up in one.” She is also the executive production of this series.
Short said in an interview with The daily beast that the show will begin filming this month. “He’s supposed to start filming in October in New York,” he told the newspaper in August. “It’s called Only the murders in the building. And that’s about three people who live in one of these upscale apartment buildings in New York City. They each see each other in the elevator, they kind of nod their heads, but they never really speak. They don’t even know everyone’s names. And then you find out that each of them goes to their individual apartment and just commits crimes and obsessions. And then once, they’re in the elevator with that fourth person. And they find out that the fourth person is killed and they are determined to solve it. But they make a pact: only the murders in the building will solve. Because they can’t be bothered to go out.
