The organization Red Carpet Green Dress founded in 2009 by Suzy Amis Cameron has the aim of supporting sustainable fashion, inviting designers to create ecological garments, but also to work in order to guarantee a fair wage, make the supply chain more transparent, use recycled and biodegradable materials. To increase this commitment, the organization launches the RCGD Global Design Contest 2020 in partnership with Tencel Luxe, a contest open to all designers in the world who are more than twenty-one years old, both emerging and leading a consolidated brand. Applications can be submitted on the organization’s website until July 30, 2020.
The winners will be announced in late August, selected by a panel of sustainable fashion experts. They will have the opportunity to dress influencers and actresses for a series of red carpets (specific events will be revealed later), together with a cash prize and a mentorship program.
The contest is supported by Conscious Fashion Campaign in collaboration with theUnited Nations Partnership Office and part of the funds raised by this project will go to two important organizations, Awaj Foundation in Bangladesh e The Fifth Pillar in Myanmar, which support workers who make clothing and who have been severely affected by the pandemic.
Here are the members who will make up the jury: Suzy Amis Cameron, founder of RCGD, Nazma Akter, Founder and Executive Director of the Awaj Foundation, the fashion designer Laura Basci is Harold Weghorst, Vice President of Global Brand Management of Lenzing AG.
