In light of the coronavirus emergency, Pirelli has suspended the production and launch of the 2021 edition of its calendar. In addition, the company has pledged to donate € 100,000 to support research and the fight against Covid-19.
“The production of the Pirelli Calendar was stopped first, in 1967 and then from 1975 to 1983. The unprecedented emergency of COVID-19 forced us to do it again today,” said Marco Tronchetti Provera, vice president and CEO of the company. “We will return to the project when the time comes.”
Rosalia in a shot by Paolo Roversi for The Cal
I still don’t know who the photographer who will be entrusted with the next edition is. The last one, that of 2020, was taken by Paolo Roversi who was inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. “Looking for Juliet” was shot, and shot (it includes an 18-minute short film), in Verona with Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart, Claire Foy, Mia Goth, Yara Shadidi, Indya Moore, Stella Roversi, Chris Lee and Rosalia in the part of Juliet. Here you can read all about making and presentation of The Cal 2020.
