Fashion tech fans have a reason to celebrate this weekend; Fendi’s new collaboration with customization-centric utility accessories brand Chaos – founded by renowned stylists / fashion directors Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall – launches on Saturday. “The inspiration for the capsule came from our love of precious and useful items,” London-based duo Stockdale and Lyall said in a statement.
Created in keeping with Fendi’s inimitable focus on contemporary luxury and Chaos’ ‘maverick’ approach to design, the collaboration features innovative pieces such as a pen that works on paper / tablet surfaces and can also be worn as an earring (style inspiration came courtesy of the Fendi Fall 2020 runway show earlier this year).
The collection also includes smartphone, smartwatch and earphone mounts inspired by the shared love Stockdale, Lyall and Fendi’s artistic director Silvia Venturini Fendi have for old Hollywood glamor and vintage ephemera like the cigarette cases and evening pouches. Taking up the notion of personalization that has become a hallmark of the Chaos brand, the pieces have been designed to hook onto Fendi’s current season belts and lanyards, as well as one of their iconic bags.
Rounding out the collection are playful items like a shot glass that dangles from a molded leather keyring and a delicate minaudière-style case; and details such as carabiners, as well as the use of fabrications such as satin, shearling and mesh, give a unique and modern touch to the range of the collection.
