The happy products were produced in collaboration with Kotn and feature illustrations by Cécile Gariépy.
Belize partner hotels, Canadian owned, Matachica Resort and GAÏA Riverlodge have just released a trio of t-shirts, illustrated by famous Montreal designer Cécile Gariépy, on behalf of COVID-19 relief. Proceeds from sales of Egyptian cotton shirts – which are made by Kotn – will go to support the food supply, housing and education of local staff and their families who have been greatly affected by the resort closures ( both of which will reopen in November. 21).
“Over the past 13 years of owning my hotels in Belize, our dedicated staff has become like family to me,” said Daniel Lighter, owner of Matachica Resort and GAIA Riverlodge, in a statement about the collection launch at optimistic name, The Monde Can. “The COVID-19 pandemic has hit them hard and most do not have the financial means to meet the basic needs that many of us take for granted, such as food, shelter and education. With this launch, we are not only offering a unique and high quality product, but also an important opportunity to give a helping hand to those who desperately need it now.
True to this team spirit, the tees bear the names of staff at both resorts – Charlie, Sam and Abi – and the visuals represent the culture surrounding Matachica and the sites certified by the GAIA gold standard.
